License cannot be checked

Post by horak »

Hello,
I am developing a simple app using sinox and PRS. I have instaled PRS on Windows Server 2008 at Virtual PC. Ip adress is 192.168.162 and hostname is dns.
I got a trial license file alcotuc.lic from Alcatel and changed first line - SERVER 192.168.2.162 ANY.
But license is unable to obtain. If I start lmtools.exe and check Server Diagnostics i get this answer :

FLEXlm diagnostics on Thu 5/14/2009 03:13

-----------------------------------------------------
License file: C:\Alcatel\FlexLM\alcotuc.lic
-----------------------------------------------------
"ECCSTART" v1.0, vendor: ALCFIRM
License server: 192.168.2.162
floating license starts: 1-jan-1990, no expiration date

This license cannot be checked out because:
Cannot connect to license server

... I will try to determine what the problem is...

"telnet" port (23) on node 192.168.2.162 does not respond
->if 192.168.2.162 is a Unix system, it's probably down
-----------------------------------------------------
"MULTI_TERMINAL" v1.0, vendor: ALCFIRM
License server: 192.168.2.162
floating license starts: 1-jan-1990, no expiration date

etc...

Telnet server and client are instaled so where is the problem? Could anybody help me?

PRS can´t be installed on a virtual enviroment...less something like Virtual PC.
PRS can only be installed on Linux enviroments on last releases.

I'm confused now. Even at Web Services - Instalallation Guide are described two Installations - for Windows and Linux, so why PRS can't be instaled on Windows server? I'm using Virtual machine only for testing, on virtual machine are instaled Web services including PRS and on physical PC are applications...is it bad idea? Thanks for replies..

Alcatel does not support Virtual Enviroments, as they are some things that may not work as in a normal PC. The license file is generated against a physical Mac Address, the only Virtual Enviroment we have tested is VMWare, anything else is up to you. Alcatel does sell BiCS which is also in VMWare basis but does not support you going and do stuff like it.
The message you see indicated that FlexLM is not installed or running correctly.
