Hello,

I have to provide a 1:1 redundant solution for some new OTUC products (ACS, ICS, Messaging, MyTeamwork).
As there is no 1:1 solution (only n+1) I think of a virtual machine, which "consists" of several (hardware) servers. These servers shold be set up as one virtual machine. So if one or more (hardware) servers brake down, the solution still works (I know, that I have to provide the double ammount of servers).
The customer has two sites and we have to provide a solution which will work, if a site brakes down.
There are approx. 6000 usres (even for OTUC) on the system.
Has anyone tried to set up such a solution? (I think I have to buy ALU Prov Services, but I don't know if this solution works....)

There are a few things to look at here.
1) VMware is not supported by ALU (but who cares!)
2) Teamwork can run in VM, but you won't be able to use presentations during a conference, the VM within teamwork which does the document conversion won't start (can't run VM inside VM, unless someone knows of a way to do this?!?)
3) I would think, technically, you might be able to run 1:1 redundancy using the Redhat Cluster Suite (RHCS), you will need to configure this manually.

I would suggest, given you are talking about 6000 users, that you get Pro Services involved anyway. I would think that with 6000 users you might fall under PCS (Premium Customer Support) anyway for the deployment.

Err...Professional Services for a VMWare enviroment that Alcatel doesn't support at all???? ok....
For that ammount of users there I wouldn't go with a VMWare never, dedicated hardware is what you need.

VMware is officially supported for OTUC! (see document "Feature_List_Product_Limits_UC_R5_Ed5a.xls", tab "HW & SW requirements", chapter "Virtualization")
You don't need PCS for the "new" OTUC anymore!
I think we will try the RHCS solution!
