Remote shelves and 4645 voicemail

Hello comrades...
I am installing a new OXE h1.301.28b with CS/4645 in IP domain 0.
I have two other IP domains, 1 and 2 that have a remote shelf and a few IP phones in each. In all the domains I have configured Intra-domain as non-compressed and extra-domain as compressed.
I have set the system compression to G729.
Problem I have is when I try to access voicemail from the remote phones, I get no audio. This is because 4645 is G711 only, right?
So if I change extra-domain algorithm to non-compressed I have audio when accessing voicemail from remote phones, but I want to compress the traffic across the WAN.
What am I missing here? I know I can have extra-domain compression and still have audio when accessing voicemail.
I have configured the compressors under all the GD's.
Your help and ideas are appreciated.

OXE has so called "partial direct RTP" feature. Exactly for your case. It concerns calling 4645VM from "poor" IP domain. "Poor" means -
-extra-domain communications is limited, i.e. not equal to "-1"
-coding algorythm is not G711.
It did take some playing with domain and IP-parameters but 100% sure it is working (we did it in a lab).
Hope nobody hears
I could send your some pictures if you supply your e-mail.

Thank you for your reply Alex, but I'm confused.
I have a similar/almost exact configuration working on a 8.0.1 release at another site. Domain 0 is set to default, and domain 1 is set to compress with extra-domain.
Default TSC/IP setting is compressed.

Then all you have to do - to investigate

. You know ALU's 1st line of support asks a lot of questions - which exact SW you got, which HW etc, do you have valid SMS contract...
Check, whether you have audio in both directions, do you have ports for RTP open etc. You know the stuff.

What do you mean "almost exact"? Even such things as "default" and "without compression" in domain config matters. I mean do not use "default" - use "with compression" or "without compression" ant limit the number of conversation also matters.

Hey torrentula, please keep updated as I'll have to do something similar but with a TW and OTUC and SIP enviroment, I'm already trying to figure out how to have one codec on one side and other codec on lan side. Does OXE can do transcoding?

Check R9 System documentation/ IP-PCX Networks/Direct RTP in Network/Detailed description. Quite a good reading on this problem. At the end you will find "Examples of RTP Flow with OmniTouch Unified Communication".

nice! Will do! I'll slap OXE engineers as they told me there is no info on UC...will have to not trust them now and read everything just in case, wonder what else could I found there

I was testing in a lab with a router on a stick, now it's in production as of tonight on MPLS network which also has no ports being blocked. Almost exactly the same means the only difference is the release, working on 8.0.1, not on 9.0.
I tried every combination of compressed or not compressed in both domains to no avail.
I'll check to doc location you specified and see what I can find.
Thanks Alex.

Looks like it is SW problem. Regression?

You sound surprised

Regression and Alcatel in the same sentence?
Yes, I think this is a SW issue, I am running everything uncompressed for now.
