i Guys
I have got an Omnipcx Enterprise, running V. 6.1. Im trying to connect to it using OmniVista 4670 clie t but I don't know what is the default primary or management IP address?
I have connected my pc in one of the rj45 port in the module called "Call Server Processing Unit" (only in this module I can get link). Then I run some traces but no arp packets seem to come out of the box??
Can someone help getting me started? Is there a quick start guide that shows how to connect to the managemet tool of the pbx?
Thanks Niko

You need a config cable to plug into the config port (with the . in it)
If not, put your sniffer on the LAN port, you'll have a broadcast of the ip address.. Login then ..

Hi
Thanks a lot for the quick answer. Please help me identify this port? Is this extension (.in) visible in the front end of the OmniPCX Enterprise Box or is this extension some sort of special cable (actually I see a black special cable. Is this the one I need to use?
I have tried all ports and none of them have link (modules are powered up though). Exception are the ports in "Call Server Processing Unit". But there are no arp's coming out from the box on those ports...
I have no telecom experience - am simply an IP guy;
This is driving me nuts. I really need a kick off at least to get to the management tool.
Thanks again, Niko

Easy way is to have a serial cable on the config port of the CS board. Comm settings 9600,8,none,1.
Run command netadmin -m under the session mtcl.
You will have your ip setup here.

Hi Admin
Well I don't have a serial port on the PBX itself but there is another piece of equipment, like flat white plastic that reads Alcatel 4059 in the back and has other ports available such as VGA, Serial, Keyboard, one that says PCTEL and another one that says UA.
I had a special blackcable (still cat 5) which I connected back to back between the PBX and this other equipment. The port that cable was plugged in in the PBX is a digital port. The equipment started to blink
I connected my pc to the serial port of this equipment but I can't get a hyperteminal session with the setting that you provided or other combinations.
Am I missing something? Thanks Niko

What does your special cable look like ?
On the CALL SERVER PROCESSING UNIT, the configuration port is on the top right. THere is a . on the top of it
You'll need a cable RJ45 to DB9 :
For the rj45, pin 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 , here is the connection for the db9:
CTS DSR RX Ground Ground TX DTR RTS

The cable is black with aluminium heads, still an RJ45. I used a RJ45-DB9 cable to connect, if you recall those that come with Cisco swithes (light blue)
Thanks Niko

now i can ping the CSU unit. The problem is that when I try to connect using the browser (netscape 4.79 and jre 1.42 just as alcatel requires) Im not able to; the error is java could not load ...bad major version
I tried to telnet to the box using username/password: mctl/password but it doesn't like it
Do you happen to know what is the default username/password?
Sorry for asking stupid question but they are delaying shipping of the documentation
Thanks Niko

The configuration port is not an IP port, you should be able to ping the CSU unig by pluging a configuration cable into the config port. This is a serial connection..
Regarding the login / password , all you can do is use the default one ..
I know a company that can recover your data, but it s expensive ..
