Installing/testing a PRA2 card

Post by mike »

I'm trying to install a PRA2 card to link for linking to another non-Alcatel pbx. So far I've gone through these steps:

* Plugged the card in
* Created the PRA2 object at the appropriate address (4)
* Created a trunk group
* Linked the trunk group to 0-4-0

Before linking the trunk group the card's state showed as idle-disabled, now it's busy-disabled. How does the state changed to 'enabled'? Have I missed something or does it change once there is a working link with the other pbx.

At present I'm not sure whether the link doesn't work because the card is 'disabled', or if the card is disabled because the link doesn't work :)

Does "operational state=disabled" mean the card is defective?

The docs at http://www.a4400.spb.ru./a4400/doc/gbd/html/Board.html say:

"DISABLE indicates that the equipment is defective or other resource upon which it depends is itself not available"

Okay, fixed it :D

I created the PRA2 object, then plugged the card in and it worked. Previously I was doing it the other way round.

Is it obvious I'm a complete amateur?

If you have time , try to leave the board in , and create your object. Then restart the board (hard reset, but unplugging and replugging the board), and see if it was why. I remember (sorry I did not talk about that) last time I installed a BRA board, I had everything right, but nothing would work, and someone told me to unplug and replug the board, and everything worked ..
