Hi all,
In Australia we seem to be having a high failure rate with 4029 hansets. The wetted mercury reed switch that acts as a hook switch seems to be failing. Our supplier in Australia is telling us that AL wont recognise this as a problem due to lack of reported faults.
Are any other dealers/vendors experiencing this problem with 4029 handsets. Is anybody able to provide me with specs for the abovementioned reeds so i can source some cheap replacements locally.
Any and All help appreciated

Hi Jellis

We had this problem too with 4029 and 4039 in Brazil. A few set but there were. We sent them to our distribuitor and they changed the sets for us.
This is one kind of problem. I have a lot of problems with 4039 and 4029 who are with the words in the display poor. We need to change them too.

Best regards

I see a LOT of 'out of box failures' on the 9 Series phones, now these are being made in China they are becoming rubbish quality compared to the earlier versions, I really hope ALU finds some one to carry out QC on their stock before shipping to all corners of the globe and really angering their partners. Even the Mobile 300 & 400's are failing way more than the 100 & 200's did. Alcatel will end up with a junk name like LG !!

Jellis, try with magnetic sensors for door or window alarm. Alcatel phones (8&9 series) uses the same mercury switches and some of them are very cheap.

good luck!

Some times, the switch is only slightly stuck , wave the handset magnet under the phone, where the read switch is, some times, unsticks, it, other wise, in warrenty then RA it. out side, then break it apart and replace read switch .
