In my practice was case like this but only with VH shelf. I think this was power problem.
Usualy VH comes with power set to 44V. If all boards inserted after some years we have suddenly restarts. What was done - on power board move strap to 54V position and ajust voltage to 54.3V.

This was VH shelfs!! Nasty error.!

Hum degradation...interesting information vad I have the same problem with a customer. Will ask for the change.

More details (this not present in doc) - open upper cover, on the power supply board present jumper 54/44 (in the nearby right corner - if see from patch panel side), choose 54V. Nearby this jumper present regulating device (sorry my english) - adjust voltage (you can measure voltage on battery) to 54,3 V.
In my practice this was done (himself or under my control) 6 times without problem.
