Active/Active LACP between Two Virtual Chassis on Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitch

Post by Newbi »

Hi everyone,

I'm new here and couldn't find a post that fully answers my question—apologies in advance if I'm posting in the wrong section.

I'm working with ten Alcatel-Lucent OmniSwitches 6900, organized into two Virtual Chassis (VC), with five switches per VC. These switches form the core of my network.

I need to connect a server that has two Ethernet ports, with one port connected to each VC. I'm looking for an active/active configuration using LACP for redundancy and load balancing.

I originally planned to use MLAG (Multichassis Link Aggregation Group), but according to recent discussions, MLAG is no longer recommended. It seems that everything should now be handled through the VC.

My question is: How can I configure active/active LACP when I have two separate VCs, Is there a best practice for this scenario with modern OmniSwitches?

Thanks in advance for any insights!

Hi,
MLAG (at ALE it was named MCLAG) is not necessary anymore. It was the solution to have a LAG to different switches. Now that different switches are like one big switch in a virtual chassis. So you can create a normal LAG with LACP.
At ALE all LAG with LACP are active/active. So there is no special config for it.
