I am going to install Alcatel Premium Server on Windows 2003 Server. The purposal of TAPI server is only for "Click to Call" function via Microsoft Outlook - Contact list. I am using OXE R7.1. I have the following questions:
1. Is it necessary to promote the server as Domain Controller?
2. Can the server work as workstation of customer's domain
3. For telephony server setting, it is necessary to enter user account and password. Is it a domain account or just a local server admin. account?
4. how to configure the client PC in order to associate an extension to PC client?

4) you have to attach the lines to the users. this is somewhere in the tool which came with the tapiserver. finally you have to make the command "tcmsetup /....". i don t know the exact phrase but in the doumentation everything is described very good.

Re: Alcatel Premium Server Installation
I can get the extension lines via Alcatel tapi Client Server Manager. Also, I can edit corp. user account associated to these extension lines. Unfortunately, I cannot find the associated extension line on the phone dialer of Client PC after typed tcmsetup /C TAPI Server name. On [Advanced] tab of 'Control > Phone and Modem' I see the driver 'Microsoft Remote Server Provider'
Following is the reply from eSR support
1. For a Telephony server on Windows 2003 Server, the server must be part of a domain controlled by an Active Directory Domain Controller. A simple Windows NT Server domain or a "Workgroup" network environment does not provide the necessary functions.
What can I do on the Windows 2003 TAPI Server?
2. TAPI PS software must be installed Windows 2003 Server
What is the meaning of TAPI PS?
