ya FARNK you are right ialso have faced the same problem connecting to 4760i what could be the problem if any solution please pass it on.

ya 4740/15 can work perfectly with r6.1 without any issues but it should be the latest version as mentioned by VAD

Just right now started 4760i on Appliance server with R6.1
It started without any problem.Works fast.
There are folowing problems which you should check with 4760i
- Java problems
- reverse DNS problem

Also, there is under SYSTEM (all the way down on the hierarchie) something called USE OF 4760i or something like that. This HAS to be set to YES if you want to use it, and the system has to be rebooted if you make a change

Use /System/Other system param./System parameters/Use of 4760i items me need set to "yes" if in OPS files absent lock 50 (MAO47xx).
