CPU5_3, i kill the BIOS of the Board!!!

Post by stefan.etter »

Hallo,
I change the Hard disk of a CPU5_3. The hard disk are build from my college on a CPU6 !!!!
The Bios are flashing and the CPU5_3 does not work with this hard disk. I change the old Hard Disk in the CPU 5_3 and a Error came too. Then I want to restart the BIOS and I make a “Restart from EPROM”. The CPU says: Remove the Jumper before restart?? I say Yes and the CPU5_3 don’t speak any more with me.
The customer have temporary a CPU6 so he can speak!!
Can I repair the CPU3_5 ??? When I switch on the CPU on the console is no live.
Thank you
(On eBay it cost 850,-Eur )

You were supposed to know what you were doing before playing with this CPU (from customer!)... It is very bad idea what you did.

yeah - rule No1. Never play with the OXE.

In some countries they worship it by doing prayers and dancing round with chickens etc..

Why not?
No risk - no fun. 8)

PS: I thought a CPU6-2 HDD on a CPU5-3 will not flash the CPU5-3 BIOS.
Normally it's no problem and Alcatel-Lucent have a fix: TC0368 (should work reverse)
But if there is no reaction anymore send the CPU to Alcatel-Lucent AfterSales for repairing.

I agree Elliot, no risk no fun, but never with something that is not yours...I can do whatever I want with my cards but not with customers ones... :? If not I must been fired long time ago

Eliott - there are exceptions to the rule. You are clearly one of them!

You are probably one of a few on here that could actually bring an OXE back from the grave! or even fix one with spares from your old bicycle!

 Some of you guys - maybe - remember the PDI Kit to flash boards. If you have the PDI you need no bicycle.
I remember times I used a soldering iron to remove SMD parts to get a LDTL board working with a paging system.
Really funny. 8)

This time I have no clear idea what happend with the board but a PDI Kit could help.

Set Terminal to 9600-7-E-1
Set the Jumper correctly (X11 2-3? I'm not sure)
Plug Flash-Kit onto socket
Plug board into ACT (free slot) (4 LEDs are on)
If necessary press the Reset-button on the PDI-Board
A menu appears - press N
Enter: CODE_FLASH_ERASE
Enter: CODE_FLASH_LOAD
Choose Transfer Textfile in yout Terminal
Rename the attached file to START.HEX and upload it.
Unplug Flash-Kit from Socket
Plug the Jumper back (X11 1-2? I'm not sure)
Plug board into right slot and hope.
So you need the Kit to repair your CPU and the correct EPROM and the attached BIOS code file.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
