appliance servers with 1 GB of RAM and above...

Post by krzysioD »

Kindly,

please say if i'm wrong:
i've got IBM machine with 2GB of RAM, but when loading OXE R7.1 (Linux version: 48.14) it gets:

Code: Select all

Bootinfo src = 0x7ff000 Bootinfo dst = 0xc0105000
Linux version 2.4.17-ll-dhs3 [017.002] (lamarqu1@cb100s039) (gcc version 2.95.3 20010315 (release)) #2 Thu Oct 19 1
5:58:01 MEST 2006
BIOS-provided physical RAM map:
..
Warning only 896MB will be used.
Use a HIGHMEM enabled kernel.
On node 0 totalpages: 229376
So, if i get it right: ALU missed one option in linux kernel compilation (use of BIGMEM, there is setting for 1, 4 or 64 GBs of RAM max) and only first 1GB memory bank is being used, the second 1GB bank olny gets warm?

Regards there,

It looks like... I'm not wrong... so... I've got 1GB of ram just for warming up my server room.
Good... I just love ALU R'n'D...

Will have a brand new one x3250 with R8.01 before end of this month on my desk and will do some testing there, but if 48.14 is linux revision and it means 2.4.17-ll-dhs3, and it's used in R8.01 then, I'm 100% sure.

Don't know who is lamarqu1@cb100s039 but he should consider some linux kernel training...
