Renumber Voice mail Directory numjber

i would like to renumber the voicemail directory number for the 4635 , is this possible and what are the potential issues with this ?

1. do you need to free up the existing number?
2. do you just want to use another number and do not care about existing number?

If 2, then create an Abbreviated number in system to call current VM number.

If 1, hmmmmmm well I don't think the VM (4635) itself gives a shit what number you assign in the OXE so I would backup the VM database, then shutdown the 4635 and pull it out of the system (good opportunity to blow dust off the boards) then delete and re-create the VM in OXE with desired number and put the board back in and boot-up. See what happens... if all is good, then go grab a few beers and celebrate! If it goes wrong - kick the f**king thing as hard as you can and run before the customer realises it's screwed... then come back and restore the backup (they will think you are god and buy you lots of beers). Win-Win either way

There is a re numbering tool for 4635 - i have never used it but i am sure someone on here has and can provide info

we are moving off of the 4635 and on to a AVST platform, and would like to keep the original pilot ,we also want to keep the 4635 up for a week to allow users to get stored messages if they need to , the main issue is that when i change the voicemail directory number in the user/voicemail area it will delete the mailbox on the 4635 and it requires me to delete the current number which is 4635 type before putting in the new pilot which is external voicemail ,so short of going mailbox by mailbox and renumbering it which we currently from time to time when we have to delete an extension but want to keep the mailbox , i think i will try shutting it down and making the changes or i will open a ticket tommarow with TAC

just change the associated set to the new/temp VM pilot used while both systems are running
