Resetting of user voicemail password through mtcl account

Post by victornew »

Hi,
I would like to know is there any way to reset the user voicemail password through the mtcl account instead of plugging the console cable to the voicemail black connector.
Understand previously we can use the wermit command to access to the voicemail console port, but now the command is no longer valid.

Thanks.

search this forum for 'minicom'

also note that Alcatel do not support the minicom feature!

Hi,
I got the document on the minicom, when I run the command on R7.x, it prompted "..there is no global configuration file /etc/minirc.dfl. Ask your sysadm to create one.."

Furthermore I am using the 1U remote maintenance box and the voicemail V24 cable is connected to the Exc RJ45 port, is the ports assignment still remain similiar to the RMA connecting box?
Please advice.
Thanks.

you must setup the minicom feature by logging in to root account and not the standard mtcl account.

1U RMA is very similar to traditional RMAB as used in Crystal hardware

Hi,
I am able to access to the minicom application in oxe.

When I connected to the oxe and check the v24 ports, there are only two ports available:
/dev/ttyS2 (2) and /dev/ttyS3 (3).

I try to assigned dev/ttyS3 (3) to 4635access but it is rejected.
My 2x Appliance servers are connected to the 1U RMA box Sya & Syb, the 4635 voicemail is connected to the Exc, remote modem to Exb.
Please advice how can i connected via minicom.
Thanks.

I think that even simple search on this forum would return this link

Hi Alex,
I have the doc downloaded. On the physical RMA board in the crystal shelf, it can be done. What I am not sure is, the ExC that is using by the 4635 console on the external RMA 1U box(RMA +MODB).
What modification or setting do I need to set it?
Please advice.
Thanks.

hint: you need to dial in to rma :) and it works.

(treat rma as just a MODEM to many COMs gateway, its a clever gateway it knows which one is MAIN)

Actually I see no difference between "classic" RMA and S-type rack RMA.
In your case you need a special cable to connect VM cable (V.24) to RMA RJ-45 port. In docs
http://localhost:81/cdrom/content/1_1_13_7_4.html
you have pinout of RJ-45 ports.

Hi,
Currently, I am able to dial in by modem to the RMA box and connect to the AS and the voicemail 4635 remotely.
What I needed was to be able to connect to the voicemail 4635 and managed it via the mtcl account or telnet session locally.
Please advice. Tks.
