Hi!
I'm trying to write the names Sérgio or Catalão in the phone keyboard to Call by Name but i can't write é or ã. I can write ~a and ´e but not the correct form. Any combination of keys? Any help?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Call by name with special characters
Weird! In the keyoard of ours 4028, we have all the special characters for portuguese: ^, ~, ´, `,...
If it's impossible to put them on the letters, they're useless.
It's no big deal because you can write Sergio to call by name and it finds all the Sergios and Sérgios but I was curious about this.

Oh yes, you have those characters but by some reason can't use them as punctuation.
I have same problem in spanish and honestly making the user to write sometimes punctuaution is something that bothers them.

Re: Call by name with special characters
You can manipulate the /usr3/mao/Fallback.txt file for your needs to translate é to e and ã to a.
You are able to search with e and a for é and ã then.
This is done by default in specific countries I think.
(Don't forget to do a "compil_fb" to re-compile the fallback after changing the file)

Hum...we don't want to replace, for example, José and Jose are valid names, what varies is the pronunciation. The é is stronger than e in spanish. Will this work? Can we have é and e.

If I understand you - and I think so - I fear it's not possible to have it as you want.cavagnaro wrote:Hum...we don't want to replace, for example, José and Jose are valid names, what varies is the pronunciation. The é is stronger than e in spanish. Will this work? Can we have é and e.
You have Müller and Mueller as names.
Without Fallback mapping you search for Mueller and will find Mueller.
With Fallback mapping you search for Mueller and will find Mueller and Müller.
That's how it's used in german countries I think.
Maybe I'm wrong for José and Jose - I never played with this.
But on a german keypad you have an ü character and you will be able to search for Müller - and find Müller...
