Use of 4760I

Post by Rens »

Hello,

Does anyone know if the 4760I still exist in release 9.1?

I cann't find the option "Use of 4760I" anymore.

In release 9.0 you could find the option between "Phone Book overflow on LDAP server" and "N Conference Modularity". But now it seems to be gone.

In Technical communication 1244 concerning the release of 9.1 in paragraph 5.1 Applications, functionalities not supported by Release 9.1 it states:
Type of application: OmniVista 4760i
Migration to: mgr or OmniVista 4760

But in in OmniPCX Enterprise R9.1 Features List I find the following:

Code: Select all

							R6.2	R7.0	R7.1	R8.0	R9.0	R9.1

1.2.3.1. MANAGEMENT
	Configuration :
		A4760 (IP, PPP) X	X	X	X	X	X
		A4760i (IP, PPP) X	X	X	X	X	X
9.1.7. MANAGEMENT
	Configuration with Wizard, 4760i and MGR	X	X	X	X	X	X
So, according to the official feature list, no changes there.

So any one any suggestions?

Regards,

Rens

I guess I already found my answer:

OmniVista 4760i
This application is no more supported and can’t be activated anymore. Use mgr or OmniVista 4760 to configure the OmniPCX Enterprise. In case of upgrade to Release 9.1, the application will be deactivated, if previously activated.

I also noticed this "problem" when testing R9.1.... no good development in my opinion.
The 4760i was a very easy way to e.g. import default settings, even before the Omnivista 4760 was installed.
I don't know why Alcatel-Lucent has decided to deactivate this feature. Perhaps to sell more Omnivista 4760.

Hope Alcatel-Lucent will change their mind about this....

While testing 9.1, let us know if you find anything else.

Not only SIP TRUNKING.
I have customer with patch 31 initially installed - supposed to be stable, yeah?
5 eSRs written, just some of them are included in latest 37th patch - so this customer has a choice to decide which of these problems have minor importnace.

Hello Alex,

Is it possible to post them in "Bugs & Security issues" so we can keep track of them?
I expected 9.0 to be quite stable.

We have a lot of issues with 9.0 too
And with Alcatel's speciality of releasing a patch that breaks 5 things, we had nightmares lately. We now ask for hotfixes only, and we do not install real patch anymore..
sucks..

Ha, ha, ha.
I have upgraded company OXE to R9.1. 4760i was enabled in R9.0 and what You think does 4760i works on R9.1? You can try to answer in 3 times :-))))
You can't believe, it works. I have connected to http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx ( cpu IP), choosed configuration. Don't forget about JAVA compatibility or You need modify nmc_env.properties file under /usr3/httpd/nmc/html .
PC have downloaded R9.1 DB structure from OXE on first connection and it looks that works !!!!!
Its correct that doesn't exist 4760i option in SYSTEM PARAMETERS, but You need to proceed some tricky procedure.
1. Create empty DB on OXE R8 or R9.0; 2. Enable 4760i; 3. Make DB backup and upload on R9.1.
