Make call from private trunk to public trunk

Post by cavagnaro »

Hi,
I'm installing one OXE all by myself. First time really i do all the job.
I'm using my OXE to connect the public network and a MITEL PBX. Have 2 PRI cards. All works fine. At least i think.
My problem is now how to allow Mitel sets to use my Public PRI to make calls. I believe the process might be they take their trunk group that connects to my OXE and then dial something, but what? tried my 0 but doesn't work. I believe i have to configure something else. I am reading a lot about a private trunk config, but i haven't said nothing of this. Is this necesary? A help will be appreciated.

Hi cavagnaro, i don't know anything about mitel, but make sure that the oxe trunk group prefix is allowed in the outward dialling of the mitel. Also, when connecting trunl to trunk don't forget to validate connection cat 5 to 5. If this is not validated, you will never be able to connect trunks. I consider these connections similar to external forwarding on the Oxe. Similar set-up1 :D
Hope it works for you

Ok,
I see that Mitel sends the digits to me, but Mitel user doesn't listen the public tone when dial 9 (Professional Trunk group). SO i guess this is step Nº1, right?
Second, categories, which categories? Trunk? I'll try and let you know.

Thanks

How do i find out which categories belong to the Trunk group? I see connection category 19. Then under categories i see all in 1. A little more specific please.

Thanks a lot

By default all trunk groups fall in connection category 5. The category 19 you are talking about is the trunk COS. That COS defines timers, trunk type, etc. The category I meant is the Connection COS. If you're using mgr, it's the menu underneath Translator. Regarding tones, you can validate "Tone on Seizure" in the Trunk Group parameters. This will send the dialling tone to the users on the Oxe; sorry but don't know about Mitel.

│ Category 23 : 1 │
│ Category 24 : 1 │
│ Category 25 : 1 │

5 in 5 is 1, so it's valid right? When remote PBX dials in OXE he keeps like waiting for more numbers. if i do a t3 i see what he is dialing. But can't determine where is he dialing, i see the first thing he dials is 9, so i believe OXE must interpret this as the prefix to take the Public Trunk Group, right?

I have validated the Tone on Seizure to True.

Mitel or any other PBX user will have to dial: #9 (His prefix to take his trunk group), 9 (My OXE prefix to take public trunk group) and 4545000 (external number) right?

Cavagnaro,

Can you do a trace when you receive a call from the MITEL ?
You have to setup a trunk seizure on the mitel to go to the PBX (let's say 9).
Then they have to dial the trunk seizure prefix of the alcatel. You might want to try with prof. trunk group instead of ARS for a begining.

Also, do a trace and show it in the forum, when you make a call from the MITEL so we can help more.

thanks
