Can an AP61 connect to an omniaccess 4302 without creating an IPSEC tunnel?

Post by martinpluss »

Hi everyone,

Need some help with a new install. I am trying to install an AP61 at a remote site. This site is already connected to our head office over an IPSEC tunnel with two draytek routers providing the VPN termination (2950 at head office, 2820 at remote site).

The issue is that the AP61 when powered on then tries to create an additional IPSEC tunnel between it and the Omniaccess 4302 we have at head office. This tunnel creation fails as the Draytek routers do not support ipsec within ipsec.

My question: is there any way to get the AP61 NOT to create its own IPsec tunnel and just connect to the 4302 over the already available route?

Thanks,

Martin

The AP61 established an IPSEC tunnel only if you configure them as an RAP (remote AP) with a RAP licence. If there is a secure connection you don't need RAP and you can use the AP61 like a local AP. Then the AP use a GRE tunnel to forward all the wireless traffic to the controller.

Thanks Silvio,

I'll see if I can work out how to make that happen. I assume that because the AP61 is a 'thin' access point that I will need to make teh changes you suggest at the controller end - I'll go play with that now.

Thanks again,

Martin
