Key feature #1: PBX could be independent of IP network ! The biggest advantage over CISCO! Note that in areas like hospitals or factories there is almost no ethernet netwoks...
Key feature #2: it's still PBX with IP telephony, so it still has ready to use features like S0 terminal access, analog (FXS => SLI, Z) access, UA with range of 1200 m signle pair telco-grade
cable
Key feature #3: many functions are embedded and built-in, don't require any external server (thing about service, TCO etc.. for 4 servers or just 2 duplicated CPUs with CCD)
Don't know Avaya that well to pin-point your marketing strategy.
Well, for someone who just loves CISCO it whould be 'obsolete' etc..

Also:
1. Unification of the equipment for both types of ALU PBX's (Office and Enterprise):
- all types of terminals (UA, IP, DECT) and base stations DECT IBS are identical to all PBX types;
- also the interface boards for Office and Enterprise Common Hardware are identical.
2. Traditional TDM DECT-system:
- up to 60 base stations DECT in Office and up to 1000 base stations DECT per node in Enterprise;
- high reliability;
- ease in usage;
- base stations DECT IBS (6 channels)are connected in standard UA ports and can be on range to 1200m depending on UTP cable type;
- base stations DECT RBS (12 channels) can be on range to 2400m depending on UTP cable type.

1000 RBS/node (only 256 IBS/node)

ALU (Alcatel-Lucent) - global company:Alex wrote:Alcatel is an european company.
Cisco, Avaya - USA.
- "A" (Alcatel) - Europe
- "LU" (Lucent) - USA.
And at PBX Avaya IP Office the UK origin - is created by the British company purchased subsequently Avaya. Therefore Avaya IP Office strongly differs from Avaya Definity/CM (hardware, terminals (partially), software)

Lucent != Avaya.
And I did add some smileys to my post.
