Guys I have a 4018 I have created the tftp server along with the 2 files

lanpbx.cfg & sipconfig-00809fxxxxxx.txt (copied from Reynoud with modification for my server)

Looking in /var/log/syslog I can see

Mar 13 10:26:27 Phaeton tftpd[6101]: tftpd: trying to get file: lanpbx.cfg
Mar 13 10:26:27 Phaeton tftpd[6101]: tftpd: serving file from /tftpboot

But I can get no further, on the phone I get

initializing
bad file content x2
updating code
no tftp response
5/5 connecting
no tftp response
reset

Then it starts again.

Fundamental question as I bought the phone off ebay is how do I know it's the EE version? As I maybe just wasting my time if it will never work?

:-)

Do you want to leave it that way? Or do you actually want to use the phone?

It would be good to use it if possible, rather than having wasted my hard earnt money

I'm also having trouble with this with Asterisk. I have configured the phone for SIP per the documentation and am currently set up to use http for some simple testing. I put the sipconfig.txt and sipconfig-MACADDRESS.txt that I have taken from this thread, customized them for my IP address, and placed them straight into the root of the web pages. I can confirm that are there and available by viewing them with http://ipaddress/sipconfig.txt for example. I can tail -f access_log and watch as the phone performs the GET on these files. I have tested SIP and my user in Asterisk using XLite.

At this point I only see the phone get to the config download portion then show failed and reset. I'm not able to gather any more information than this. Anything else would be helpful. Thank you.

I've been able to enable netlog and see what the 4008 doesn't like in sipconfig. It is repeatedly complaining that

Apr 29 12:06:19 00: 00:00 000-00:00:29.360 INIT : Checking Mandantory Parameter: authentication_name Invalid !

But I have tried every variation I can think of for the authentication_name but it always says this just prior to reset. I have been careful about saving the file as UTF-8 so I think it should be readable. Currently my sipcconfig.txt and sipconfig-macaddress.txt files are identical.

Any ideas on this? Thank you.

I finally got a 4018 EE to work and I see it was running the 2.x SIP binaries. During some testing I pointed it back to an OXE but it downgraded the binaries to 1.x and now I can't get it to work with Asterisk. I have tried using the datsip4018 and noesip4018 binaries that were posted in one of these threads but it never seems to flash them. Do I need any other binaries or force the download? Thank you.

I've been able to get all of my phones working. I had to boot industrial mode and force download the 2.x binaries. Once this was done then I could use them with Asterisk.
