External music on hold device

Post by jbower »

I was hoping someone could recommend a good CD player that you have had success with or an MP3 player. I bought a rack mout CD deck with dual disks and controls. When i connected it to my analog port on a OXE it worked great at first but within a few minutes the the audio out port on the CD deck burned up. The analog port on the OXE sends out current and fried my audio port. I then hooked up my line out from my music source to a potentiometer and then connected my line from the analog port to the potentiometer. This cancelled out the line voltage and worked okay. I need to now replace my unit due to continuous use and would like to know what others have done or bought that worked that did not require some special device like an inline potentiometer to keep from burning up my device.

May be not necessary to buy another device - if for you enought to have connected to SLI/Z port in parallel resistor (600 om)? The best - connect CD player not to resistor but in additional via two capacitor (1 microfarad).

Hi Vad,
Could you please clarify I do not quite follow what you mean? Are you saying i should use a capacitor rated at 1 microfarad? How many capacitors?

Like this. 600 om resistor connected to SLI/Z port. Two capacitor - one for each wire.

Thanks for the clarification. It makes sense now. I will try it and see how it works.
