Fax over g711 on OXE

Post by tot3nkopf »

Hi guys,

I am facing the following issue: I use HylaFax on an Asterisk based PBX linked via SIP trunk to OXE and OXO
I am using same settings twards both ALU systems.

Fax is ok incoming and outgoing with OXO using g711 and Fax over 711
Fax is nok incoming and outgoing with OXO using g711 and T38

For OXE fax nok all (voice calls are ok).

The question is: does OXE support Fax over g711 mode for faxing (not T38)? If yes, how can I enable it?

P.S.:
OXO R7.1;
OXE tried both R9.1 (i160521e) and R10 (j1.41034c)

OXE do not support fax over G711!!!! I do not know in release 10, but I don't think they include that. Only T38 for Fax!!! I already compaint about that some time ago.

As I expected :?
Thanks for confirmation tincho.

I have 2 features in OXO that I can't reproduce in OXE that really bug me: fax detection and routing, fax over g711

Thank you very much tincho. Very clearly stated:

Code: Select all

4.	SIP trunking & FAX over IP support
T38 Annex D Fax Relay mode is the only mode supported on SIP trunking connection whatever public or private connection type.
Note: G711 FAX transparent through SIP is not supported.
I wouldn't have thought that OXO could be ahead of OXE on SIP features :shock:

As Tincho said on OXE G711 over IP is not supported.
On OXO: Numbering-->ARS-->Gateway Parameters-->Fax-->G711 instead of T38
Be sure that you use G711 as codec. I use G711 with 20ms framing with HylaFax on Asterisk. Working very well.

bump :o

has anyone managed to get fax over sip trunks to work in G711 and not T38 :?
my carrier does not and will not support t38 and it looks like OXE (R10) does not and will not support G711 :(

anyone got a trick? maybe a way to switch off the detect in the GD/INTIP
