If you don't use transcoding and you use direct RTP as many as you want. If you use transcodig you must take into consideration the traffic that you require.

In another words - GD+MADA3 support 24 compressors max.
How many compressors you need - this is another questions.
F.e. for one T1 connections with PSTN and 200 internal IP phones (40X8) - enough 24 codecs (will be used during PSTN - IP phones conversation).
