Re: 4XX8EE Phones with Asterisk
1. PC ethernet configured as 192.168.1.6 with tftp server and binaries.
2. Crossed ethernet cable from phone to PC.
3. Power on phone. Hold i+1+2+3. Release when keys light.
4. After several seconds you will be able to ping the phone at 192.168.1.1.
5. Telnet to phone.
6. >dwl go sipc
Phone will then attempt to download the sip binaries. You could also use just 'dwl go' and it will attempt to download all the binaries.

Re: 4XX8EE Phones with Asterisk
I am currently using SIP binary version 2.01.20. I found these to be the most stable. I tried later versions (2.10.x) but found them to be unstable and the phones would constantly lock up with Asterisk.
I have tested with 4008, 4018, 4028, and 4038 phones. The 4008 and 4018 work well. The 4028 and 4038 work well but the VM button does nothing and I cannot get any MWI on these regardless of the version of the SIP binary. Does anyone have any ideas on this? Thank you.
Also, I am using AsteriskNOW 1.7.1.

Re: 4XX8EE Phones with Asterisk
Please, I need the correct format for the timezone parameter in [sntp], because I am in Brazil and the set ip touch 4038 does not show the correct time. I've tried all possibilities and so far failed.
Default parameteres:
sntp_addr=
timezone=UT::60:032902:102503
In my set show = 04:00hs to my real hours.
thanks

Re: 4XX8EE Phones with Asterisk
It took me some trial and error with the string 'timezone=UT::60:032902:102503'. I don't have my notes in front of me but you can adjust up or down the number of minutes from GMT (UT=Universal Time) for your time zone and the last two numbers represent the dates and times to change for daylight savings. So 102503, if I remember right, would be October 25 at 3 am.

Re: 4XX8EE Phones with Asterisk
Hi,
It would be amazing if someone could help me!
I have set up an asterisk server, and have successfully got some 4008EE phones registered and working.
My problem is, we currently have some ALU 4008EE sets connected and working with our Alcatel Omni-PBX.
On these devices, when I go into the menu (i + #) to change the Run mode to SIP, the Soft Options menu is not present.
I have confirmed by taking a new from factory phone, plugging it into our existing PBX system (it goes through code updates and then works OK).
After this, the Soft Option menu is missing, so I cannot change it to SIP mode.
I have tried re-flashing it (using the 1+2+3+i) boot settings, but when I do the "dwl go sipc" command, I see in packet captures the phone requesting the non-SIP binaries.
I cannot seem to force the flashing of the SIP binary
Can anyone help!?
Thanks in advance,
Mike

Re: 4XX8EE Phones with Asterisk
We have about 20 of these phones and i have only just started to look at how to set them up for asterisk use. If you have any pointers on this issue, i would be very happy indeed, i will keep wireshark close by and make sure my tftp is working properly before i start. If you have any pointers to documentation for these phones, as the supplier who sold them to use has just given use the simple card that came with for use with the PBX, we are thinking of moving from an Alcatel system to Asterisk, i have one spare phone which i will attempt to set up for asterisk use in the test stage.
