Analog users cannot be changed/delted

Post by robertm »

Hi,

I am working on a system that went down during a power failure it is on v7.1. When the system came back up the port numbers on the digital users (system is all digital with a bunch of analog behind UA) were either gone or mixed up. We tried to restore different backups and got the same issue.

Finally, we just went around and put all the phones back in service (which was harder than I make it sound since we are at multi-locations) then all we are left with is a few of the fax machines (analog behind UA) aren't working and I can't edit them. I can see the user in 4760 if I search a range of users, 4760 just hangs if I search for the user specifically. If I search for the analog user in mgr I get KCI_NULL_INSTANCE. Attempting to edit anything or delete the user fails in 4760 and mgr.

These fax machines are used locally so I need to find out to get these extensions working again.

I talked to a friend that woks with Alcatel PCXs and he has seen this problem of scrambled port numbers in v7.1 and said the only way he fixed it was to upgrade to v8 (current release at the time). That's fine I am getting a quote to upgrade to latest version but, does anyone know what I can do in the meantime and how can I know that my database is going to be good for the upgrade?

Thanks,
Rob

Make a backup.
use checkdb
create whole new board - UA with empty users.
forget about those users that you have - but assume that it were numers like 1212.
on new blank UA create users with numbers D1212, user private calling number to set thier public numer to XXX YY1212 (without a starging D). Change temporarily your accounting reports, supervision keys, hunting/pickup groups etc..
So up to 32 digital users to create.
Now same with analog behind UA.

If you could move "OLD" card - by "mgr/move" option to some empty slot and move new one (just created above) card into this slot.
IF can't move in mgr: do it manualy: move UA board and TY1 cable.

should work :)

the database could be repaired in 99% of cases, no matter if it is R2.1 (DONE THAT!) or R7.1 or R10 - but it takes time. Upgrade in the most cases == new CPU / RAM and some boards (dect, voice mail etc...) to replace.
so ask for db repair :) (or drop me a line on PM).
