CIR/PIR with 6850

Post by ajaymalik20032000 »

Hello Experts,

I was recently testing CIR/PIR on Omniswitch 6850.

Tolology:-

(172.16.1.150) Server1----- gig 1/1 |-------------| |-----------|
(172.16.2.150) Server2----- gig 1/2 | 6850 | gig 1/24 --------------gig 1/24 | 6400 | gig 1/3 ------------Server 4 (172.16.3.100)
(172.16.5.150) Server3-----gig 1/3 |-------------| | ---------- |

Server 1 ,Server 2 and Server 3 are sending 1G traffic to Server 4 respectively.

Policy configured on 6850
=====================
policy condition c1 source ip 172.16.1.150 destination ip 172.16.3.100
policy action c2 CIR 200M CBS 200M PIR 300M PBS 320M
policy rule c3 condition c1 action c2

policy condition d1 source ip 172.16.2.150 destination ip 172.16.3.100
policy action d2 CIR 200M CBS 200M PIR 300M PBS 320M
policy rule d3 condition d1 action d2

policy condition e1 source ip 172.16.5.150 destination ip 172.16.3.100
policy action e2 CIR 200M CBS 200M PIR 300M PBS 320M
policy rule e3 condition e1 action e2

As per my understanding ,since the overall PIR is 900M traffic comming from Server 1 , Server 2 and Server 3 should be restricted to 300M each.

My observation was as below
=========================
Was getting around 250M respectively (instead of around 300M)

Note:- When I performed a test with only CIR configured to 300 MB (removed the PIR and all three hosts still sending 1G traffic ), was receiving exactly 300M for each flow .

Wanted to know if anyone tested cir/pir and observed similiar behaviour. Kindly let me know if I have missed something or any other info is required.
