Within the infrastructure I work in, we have numerous OmniSwitch 6850 switches.

Having interrogated these switches using the following MIB OID

.iso.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.9

The switches seem to be returning some very odd information back.

Here is an example of some output from a 6850 and when I take the Unix Epoch time stamp from the output and pass that time stamp a Unix Epoch Converter on the web (http://www.epochconverter.com/)

I am getting dates from the 1970's

IF-MIB::ifLastChange.1001 = Timeticks: (13900) 0:02:19.00
GMT: Thu, 1 Jan 1970 03:51:40 UTC
Your time zone: 01 January 1970 03:51:40 GMT+0

IF-MIB::ifLastChange.1002 = Timeticks: (13400) 0:02:14.00
GMT: Thu, 1 Jan 1970 03:43:20 UTC
Your time zone: 01 January 1970 03:43:20 GMT+0

IF-MIB::ifLastChange.1003 = Timeticks: (9700) 0:01:37.00
GMT: Thu, 1 Jan 1970 02:41:40 UTC
Your time zone: 01 January 1970 02:41:40 GMT+0

IF-MIB::ifLastChange.1004 = Timeticks: (89280000) 10 days, 8:00:00.00
GMT: Mon, 30 Oct 1972 08:00:00 UTC
Your time zone: 30 October 1972 08:00:00 GMT+0

IF-MIB::ifLastChange.1005 = Timeticks: (25236400) 2 days, 22:06:04.00
GMT: Tue, 20 Oct 1970 02:06:40 UTC
Your time zone: 20 October 1970 03:06:40 GMT+1

IF-MIB::ifLastChange.1006 = Timeticks: (114076100) 13 days, 4:52:41.00
GMT: Mon, 13 Aug 1973 07:48:20 UTC
Your time zone: 13 August 1973 08:48:20 GMT+1

IF-MIB::ifLastChange.1007 = Timeticks: (96109400) 11 days, 2:58:14.00
GMT: Wed, 17 Jan 1973 09:03:20 UTC
Your time zone: 17 January 1973 09:03:20 GMT+0

IF-MIB::ifLastChange.1008 = Timeticks: (87530100) 10 days, 3:08:21.00
GMT: Tue, 10 Oct 1972 01:55:00 UTC
Your time zone: 10 October 1972 02:55:00 GMT+1

Now the strange thing is, it’s not just 1 6850 switch its all of them.

And to perplex the matter furthermore, when I perform the same interrogation on the 6648 switches, I am getting the correct information returned.

So I can only presume from this the matter lies with either a hardware problem with the switches (which I believe is somewhat unlikely) or a particular configuration file on the switch is out of date and needs to upgraded.

Can anyone please help me and advise me on what I need to do, to fix this problem. Thank you.

Hi,
with 6850 is a bit more different. Following may be helpful in this regard: link 1 and link 2

Hi one6f, thank you for your valuable input.

Tell me should you know the answer, which System Configuration File on the switch deals with handling information regarding when an interface changes status?
