Trouble applying group changes to fields

Post by tjm0852 »

I can not seem to make a group of changes all at once. For example I want to change a group of people with one domian number to another. I search for user with that domain number than make the changes by copy and pasting, however everytime I hit the green apply check I get this error: The following attributes are mandatory and must be entered: Name

I have tried highlighting all the users, then apply changes. I am only able to enter the changes one at a time which is a waste of time.

Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried exporting the data, making the change using excel, then save the text file and import it?

I was hoping I could just do it right on the 4760 terminal. I can't see what you would not be able to do so?

Can you point towards instructions for exporting and importing exel files?

Thanks

For example,

Highlight all the users you want to edit, then right click your mouse over those users. Choose export and save to hard drive. The file will be a .txt file. You will be offered to export lots of hierachy options for user. Obviously remove the tick from all irrelevant hierachy choices before you export otherwise you will end up with a big text file.

Open the file in Excel. Remove/Delete all irrelevant colums. Make the change to the colum you want, then close the file. DO NOT SAVE IT AS EXCEL - KEEP THE FILE AS TEXT FILE.

Go back to 4760. Highlight 'user' in the config tree and right click and import the file.

I am not offered options as to what I want to export. It just exports all user data.

Also I save the file in .txt and open with Excel, I make the changes to the fields I need, however everytime I try to save the file, as .tx I get a message stating the file may contain features that are not compatible with Text (Tab delimited) Do you want to keep this format? Where I say yes or no I am never able to save the file or import it.

Can anyone help?

Thanks
