2 phones --> 1 number

Post by JHades »

I have a user who wants to use the same number on two different locations. I have defined the number on location A with tandem-function to the number on location B. So when number A is called the phones on the 2 different locations are ringing.

Is there an easier way to do so? Because now I still have to use 2 different directorynumbers (=telephone numbers) for 1 user.

I can't use a huntinggroup, because the user wants to use the forwarding features on the number when he is out of the office.

Is one of the sets a Digital set with programmable keys? If so, why not use the 'Set Supervision' feature.

Find a spare key on the digital set and program it for 'set supervision' and put the directory number of the other set in there. Also set the ringing parameter on that key to Long Ring.

That way, when anyone calls the other set, both phones will ring. You will still have 2 directory numbers though.

It's a good solution, but I don't want to hang on to 2 directory numbers. Now the phones are configured so they have both the same calling number, even if they have 2 different directory numbers. So there's only one calling number in use.

I was hoping to recycle one directory number, but it seems to be idle hope ...

you can't do that - every phone needs it unique phone number.

The only way you will be able to use 1 number for 2 phones is to have 2 analogue sets connected to the same port.

I think what his client needs is an OTUC feature: a user moves across a network with his number and features (I'm sure that OTUC has it). Try asking Cavagnaro about it, he is an expert on OTUC.

That sounds nice to me, but I would need some more info about it.

If you have two physical devices - you will use two numbers (from management point). You can call via one number (hunting group, tandem or set supervision) but in system will be created two numbers. If you use f.e. tandem you can use one usual number 2000 for main set and one special f.e. ABCD2000 for second.
