SIP Extension V/S SIP DEVICE

Post by farazhusain »

Dears,

We are using Yealink VP530 SIP Video Phone Sets with Alcatel Omni PCX 4400 Release 9.0, my questions are mentioned in below.

1. If we create SIP User in Alcatel Omni PCX 4400 with Set Type "SIP Device", why Alcatel feature set such as call back request on busy or free sets, music on hold etc. is not avaialble.

2. If we create SIP User in Alcatel Omni PCX 4400 with Set Type "SIP Extension", All Alcatel feature set is available but we are unable to have a video call. Also the SIP Extension goes "OUT OF SERVICE" after every couple of hours, it shows that it is registered with Alcatel but the callers get "OUT OF SERVICE" their screens, then we have to reset this terminal by "termstat d" command.

kindly help me out in this regard how to resolve these problems in such a manner that every SIP User of Yealink VP530 will be able to have video call facility with Alcatel telephony features.

Both are normal behaviors.
You cannot have video (possible as you mentioned with SIP devices) and PBX features (possible only with SIP extensions --> the only ones that support prefixes and suffixes --> however not supporting video at the moment).
I would say that what you require is not possible at the moment with OXE. Maybe with OpenTouch?

Other opinions gents?

I agree with tot3nkopf. What you describe is the normal behaviour of the sip device and sip extension.

With sip device you are able to use video, but because the OXE sees this as an external set the Alcatel telephony services are not available.
On the other hand if you create a sip extension, you are able to use the Alcatel telephony services, but video isn't possible.
I also fear that these restrictions will still be there in OpenTouch :-(

Yes, they are, as the SIP are the same. But for Open Touch users you can have video and features.
