Hi,
I am trying to install a fresh installation of 4635 release 5 on a vpu5.
From the docs I found that I have to use bootpd, tftpd and ractd as in 4400.
So I placed the 4635 cd1 in folder c:\a4635
then copied folders bootnet, bootp and etc from a 4400 release and placed them in c: (as we do with 4400 installation.).
I deleted what's in bootp and placed a4635v.cfg and kernel_v which I found in 4635 version.
I started bootpd from a 4400 version folder and 3 windows opened.
In vpu i got into bios and chose 'boot from network' and entered ip address of my pc 191.254.1.1 but nothing happened. It kept searching for server....
From the docs I didn't understand well the part of how to get the bootpd from a 4400 version and make it work with the 4635 version.
Does anyone has a complete procedure for a fresh installation of 4635release5 on a vpu5 board please?
Thanks and Regards
Wallace

Re: 4635 installation on vpu5
This is the procedure to install 4635 :
4635 Installation Procedure :
Place 4635 cd contents in c:\ of pc in folder c:\a4635\...
Get folders \bootnt95 and \etc from a 4400 old release version (ex.rel4 – \d2304\pcmao\boot_res\... )
Place these folders in c:\
Launch \bootnt95\bootpd. 3 windows will open. Check in options of windows that drive is equal to the drive you are using c:\
Open using notepad file C:\etc\bootptab and change the following as follows :
Bold lines are of importance :
DHS3.dummy:\
:ht=ethernet:\
:hd=/a4635:\
:bf=chorus.ram:\
:vm=rfc1048:\
:hn:
DYNAMIC_IP.dummy:\
:tc=DHS3.dummy:\
:HOSTNAME_PREFIX=<choose a name you like ex DHSV_.>\
# 5 char max.
:NB_FREE_IP_ADDR=10:\
:FIRST_FREE_IP_ADDR=<191.254.1.250>:
Set your pc Ip@ to 191.254.1.1 and computer name to a4740.
Connect vpu board from backpanel to the Lan of the pc (ethernet cable of alcatel – from pin 17 down - pin17 is the first pin used).
Switch on VPU board and using V24 interface (hyperterminal as when connecting to a 4400) get into bios (press <del> key to get to bios).
Choose load from ethernet (6)
Server host name = a4740 (pc name)
Boot file name = a4635v.cfg - (here you put a4635j.cfg or a4635h.cfg or a4635v.cfg – j and h are for vp35 boards and v is for vpu boards)
Loading will start and then just follow menus –
access code is a4635
