Post by thekotaksampah »

Hello guys, I have a little problem. I'm afraid it can be a big impact soon. So I want to ask you for help.

I have upgraded my SR-7 Router module. I upgraded sfm-2 to sfm-4.. and I try to monitor.. there was a temperature difference and the gap is so far.

It's the temprature before I upgraded

Code: Select all

You have an SR12 rather than an SR7 there.

What linecards do you have installed? Certain IOM/IMMs require Enhanced Fan Trays to be installed, for example the IMM12-10GB-SFP+ or the IMM1-100GB-CFP.

Check the 7750 SR-12 Installation Guide.

when I upgrade sfm3 to sfm4. the os detect teh card is sfm4-12. The problem is why the temperature is higher than before when I use sfm3. Is it the characteristic of the card or not?

I try to looking for in alu installation guide abaout the imm, sfm or iom-3xp temprature. But I found nothing there..

Taking a quick look at two of my SR12s, the SFM4 cards do seem to run hotter than the SFM3s, same as you.

Code: Select all

A:SR12-1# show card a detail | match "Temp|sfm" expression
A sfm3-12 up up/active
    Temperature : 38C
    Temperature threshold : 75C

A:SR12-2# show card a detail | match "Temp|sfm" expression
A sfm4-12 up up/active
    Temperature : 52C
    Temperature threshold : 75C
The point I was trying to make is that if at the same time as installing your SFM4s you added 100GE IMMs you would need an enhanced fan tray or the whole chassis would be too hot. A common reason for upgrading to SFM4s is to take advantage of 100Gb/slot IMMs. You will find what I refer to if you search for the phrase "enhanced" in the Installation Guide.
