Install vSROS with QENU on GNS3 1.1 Version

Post by mkbahk »

I tried to install vSROS release 5 on GNS3 1.1 Version with QENU.
Install is OK, but Ping does not work. Please, refer to below URL.

You may try to put the switch between your routers and then ping.

File save project then you will be able to ping between the interfaces.

Moon-Kee Bahk,
can you tell me how did you overcome qemu problem with multiple instances on Windows system?
I have gns3 1.2 and I am able to succesfully run one instance of vSROS, but cannot run more than one - qemu isn't even showing windows for new instance.

Hi Drow.

I installed vSIM on GNS3 in Windows today and everything is working fine. I ran multiple instances without problem, ping and OSFP adjacencies were established. I installed GNS3 version 1.2 and vSROS 12 R7. Two things I did differently from Moon-Kee's guide: Network Type e1000 in QEMU setup and I also downloaded the latest version of QEMU (2.1.92).

Sebastian

Thanks for the input.
It seems it was memory problem - I have only 4 gigs of RAM, so couldn't really initiate more than one instance if vSROS image was set to ~2GB. I changed it to 1800MBs and I can now run two instances with all the features.

Hi Guys,

I was able to run multiples images but I did not find any way to save the changes that I did on the virtual routers.

Using vSROS under KVM, when I do an ADMIN SAVE it saves the changes on the qcow2 file.

How can we do the same at GNS3?

Thanks, regards.

Hi,

When you create a new project in GNS3 "tick" the box "save nvrams...". Then save your config on devices and save your project in GNS3 and job done.

Thanks Zelps, but I am running version 1.2 and there is no option to save nvram during the project creation.

@ntobita:
For me it works like this:
1. save the project,
2. do admin save ad specify custom config name,
3. introduce your custom config file to bof and save bof,

Then even after reopening of the project and reloading the nodes, my config is persistent.
