Stack firmware version considerations

Post by rooted »

Hi,

I need to replace a 6250 on a stack (2 members).

The switch that is working (secondary CMM) have a 6.6.3.439.R01 firmware version.

The new one have 6.6.4.177.R01 firmware version, and will be the primary on the stack.

There is any problem with this issue or may I downgrade FW version on the new one?

What is the best way to procced?

You can't mix, means the 6.4.4 will be downgraded to 6.6.3.439 - this should work fine.
i would always use the latest maintanance release available for the Major Version you are using.

e.g. if you want to stay at 6.6.3 i'd use the 6.6.3.552
I (personally) would upgrade the whole stack including miniboot and fpga (so that the pushbutton on the back is working again) and go with 6.6.4.285.

If you do not want a downtime just connect the new switch to the running stack an monitor console.. it should downgrade happily
