common hardware first time use

Post by mahmoud hosien »

hello every body:
it is my first time here ,so plz bear with me
i am an OXO OXE crystal expert but i don't have enough info about common hardware
so i would like some briefing about it specially :-
1-if i have 3 cabinet large should i connect them using MEX or GD boards and how?
2- does the GD board is assigned an ip address like CS board
3-when i connect using serial connection for the first time to assign ip addresses to the boards should i connect to the CS only and assign all from there or i should connect to each CS and GD individually
4-when i assign a shelf no. to each cabinet , is it related to the GD board installed in it ? , so when i read an extension position (shelf - board - equip.) no. how to determine the cabinet that this position belongs to

thanks and best regard,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

1st - you have to do more keyboard action on the keys ? and .
2nd - use the nice and built in searchmachine here in the forum.
3rd - find this viewtopic.php?t=23874
4th - ask specific questions and not "tell me all about the world"

shocking , but thank you
i am sorry but as i said before it is my first time common hardware
i already have the System Documentation but not of much help
would you please out of your kindness recommend some search key words?
i am a new employee at a company has a common hardware station , and as you know the company's specialized in programming this kind of alcatel stations wouldn't give such info to outsider to make you always in need for them!
but regardless thank you for your answer,,,,,,,,,,,,

So you say you are an "expert" but seems not... :/
System documentation has all you need and explained very well, of course, won't be a "ok hosein, now lets click here and then on page 2 click here".
HW is almost the same as on Crystal, you should be able to do it pretty simple. Create boards and config them as a initip for example...same concepts.

thank you, it was very much help
but the problem wasn't how to do ? the problem was what to do ?
as you mentioned hw is almost (and i stress on almost) the same, that was my problem
i didn't lie when i said i am expert in crystal and oxo ,i know very will how to handle telnet>mgr but i am not familiar with common hardware station building , may be because i don't know how to use ACTIS it wasn't my job to do
but it is okay now
apologies and greetings, thank you all

If you know oxo then is the same concept. Reading docs you should be able to figure it out

same as oxe crystal hw replace intofs by intips and you got oxe common .
btw intip (gd, ga) can act as cpu so in some configs you should connetc to it via serial to do the necessary (adressing , role mode etc ...) witch is usually the case in the common hw.
for my first oxe common,1hour was enough for me to work with it sure i have system doc in hand and time to time have learn

So I can give you hints, but you need to do some of the work here..
1- Yes, you have to connect your large cabinets using MEX boards. How ? System Doc explain it :)
2- CS, GD, and GA all have IP addresses
3- You have to connect to each board to assign their IP address
4- That is the first thing explained in the documentation.

Good luck !
