vSR on VMWare Workstation
I've successfully got vSR 12.08 working under RHEL 6.6 as a qcow2 image. But what I was really wanting is to have vSR working as a VMWare Image I can run under ESX and / or Workstation.
I've successfully converted the qcow2 file into a vmdk using qemu-img using these instructions: http://docs.openstack.org/image-guide/c ... rting.html
Then I setup a serial port as a named pipe and can use Putty on my windows machine to access "\\.\pipe\com_1" using this blog: http://www.arkf.net/blog/?p=199
After juggling around with the OS and making sure I add it as an IDE on controller zero, I get the console to show up (and it detects it's vmware). But after TiMOS has booted it always crashes.
The first watchdog I get is just at the DNS stage:
Initializing VMM
Virtual address sharing is disabled
platformVmRestrict: unsupported hypervisor: VMWARE (2)
Time from clock is MON MAR 16 17:22:26 2015 UTC
Initial DNS resolving preference is ipv4-only
Watchdog: Task 0x2016c6d8 (sysMonitor) blocked for 180 ticks.
6158772 vxTaskEntry +12 : 4332d2a (0, 0, 0, 0)
4332d8b sysMonitorTask +1ef: taskDelay (14, 1, 1, eeeeeeee)
System Crash Dump Written - Please run the command
`admin tech-support` and contact your Alcatel-Lucent
support representative.
Then I see an error about remapping PCI devices which is the ethernet device pci device 32.
Rebooting...
Using preloaded VxWorks boot loader at 0x00008000, size 0x00098000, entrypoint 0x00008010
WARNING: PCI configuration may be wrong. Can't remap found pci device number (2,32)
Has anyone managed to get a working vmx file with and could they paste the file?

Re: vSR on VMWare Workstation
Havent tried on VM ware, but since release 13.0.R1, a .OVA file is present in the VM download from ALU.
Perhaps that would work better for you.

Re: vSR on VMWare Workstation
Yep I have 13.2 working too.
And it seem to now have PPPoE support in there as well.
Going to have a bit of a play with it tomorrow and see what I can make work.
Using the Named Pipe in server mode works fine using Putty and VMWare workstation. I would assume VMWare player would work the same as well.

I followed the document but when my VM goes to start it stops @ Booting...... I am using Workstation 12 Player. Can my image be bad or is this common?

Re: vSR on VMWare Workstation
Working for me, which settings do you have for your VMs?
