Partition var/log has no more free space (OXE R8.0.1)

Post by OXO-Man »

Dear Enterprise-Fans,
I have a problem with an OXE R8.0.1:
The partition /var/log has run out of space cause the file "iplhourlystat.stat" has grown up to a size about 11GB.

Question:
1. What does this file exactly do? Can I delete it without any problems?
2. Why is this file grown up to such a huge size?

Thank you for your answers!!!!
Best regards

I don't know what's this file.
You can probably save it on your desktop and delete it to avoid any further issues.
Open a case with ALU, and have them tell you what's this file for.
Once you know it, please share the information !

Do we need to reboot OXE for file restart from empty?
Why this file becomes big?
I got the same problem in R8.0.1.

The IP-Link statistic file can be deleted and will be re-created automatically after 1 hour.
Issue [crms00208740 crms00309236] is solved from R10.0 j1.410.38 and R10.1 j2.402.6

>1. What does this file exactly do?
Stores statistics

>Can I delete it without any problems?
Yes. See above.

>2. Why is this file grown up to such a huge size?
Due to missing logrotate mechanisms.

If /var does not have space, the system might crash, so yes..

the most save way is to write a logrotate configuration file for this iplink files. they are all in directory /etc/logrotate.d/
you can also use a config file from a newer oxe release.
