Omnivista 8770 not sending alarm notifications by mail

Post by melozurdo »

Hi guys,

I´m trying to configure filter alarms to be sent thru mail but when an specific alarm comes (i.e. "mtcl login"), the notification never arrives.
I put FQDN mail server in Omnivista Administration section and I confirmed that there is network connectivity between the virtaul machine the Omnivista is installed and mail server. Can somebody please help me to get this figure out? Thanks.

Regards,
Nacho

Here you are...

Also I can see the following messages in the alarm log:

[4/25/2016 4:26:31 AM] 1876 FaultManager_AlarmTrigger: - mtcl login : Send mail with 1 alarms
[4/25/2016 4:26:32 AM] 1876 FaultManager_AlarmTrigger: Warning: Unable to send mail : Connection failed

Thanks,
Nacho

in 4760 i've used "name of mail sender" like in i your screenshot. as we switched to 8770 i must use a full mailaddress with @-sign as "name of mail sender".

also try to send a mail from 8770 server with telnet to test the connection. (there are many google "hits" how to test smtp with telnet. for instance http://www.yuki-onna.co.uk/email/smtp.html )

so you said put full mailaddress with @ in server name instead of FQDN server name? Or you mean put my email address in the alarm filter section? (this is currently done)

I think this is only to reflect the name of the sender when you receive the notification by mail. Anyway, I put a full mail address, then I generated the alert and I never received the notification by mail. I think the problem is in the mail server side. It seems that my email is not recognized to receive notification alerts from Omnivista. I also see these log messages:

[4/27/2016 3:33:27 AM] 1876 FaultManager_AlarmTrigger: - mtcl login : Send mail with 1 alarms
[4/27/2016 3:33:28 AM] 1876 FaultManager_AlarmTrigger: Warning: Unable to send mail : Connection failed

Test the telnet smtp commands from the server you your mail server. Verify you can send an email from it
