V24 Wallboards
Could anybody confirm if an Alcatel V24 monochrome 1 x 12 wallboard can be run directly from a comm port on a pc, and configured using WBM?
The documentation seems to be a bit ambiguous (at least to me!)
If not, does it have to be connected directly to a V24 port on the Enterprise, with the display being controlled directly from CCS?
thank you.
I am using the latest avaliable versions of CCS and WBM, and have tried this on both a 6.0.1 and rel 7.1 system

The wallboard I have is a single colour (red) 1 x 12 alcatel part ref 3BD19141BD According to the documents that came with it the port should be configured as 4800 / 8 / none / 2 And jumpers K1 K2 K3 are used to determine the wallboard no. when connecting several in series, with K6A used to identify if the board is the final one in a serial connection. K4 is used to identify 600 or 4800 baud. I have tried connecting this direct to the PC comm. Port and configuring in WBM but cannot get any info displayed on the board, however, if I connect a PC running a terminal session I can see information , ie the date + time. Should I definitely be able to connect this type of board direct to the PC? (The board only has jumpers K1 - K5)
Thanks again..
Thanks again..

Re: V24 Wallboards
Im trying to test a possible defective V24 Wallboard but sadly have no 4400 serial port or CCS WBM running to test it. I have set up jumpers according to doc, see picture below. The LED's are lighting up in sequence on power-on so the CPU/LEDs are all OK.
I could use my PC terminal emulator and send characters to the wallboard, but cannot figure out the specialized protocol.
Are someone able to log a serial output from a CCS Wallboard Manager or 4400 V24 port and capture the ascii string?
I could then just paste the string into my terminal to test the wallboard on-site.

Tore Bergvill

Re: V24 Wallboards

Re: V24 Wallboards
Hi all.
Sorry to up the the subject.
I've found an old 1x12 red led wallboard from our old alcatel system.
I don't find any way to mmake it work with my computer. When plugging it to power supply, the wallboard make a self test (LED groups of each char is powering on then off).
I've try to find the wire guide but nothing on the net...
Wallboard version seems to be old (installed in 2005). Reference is 3BA51373AA. if needed I can join some pics of it.
There is 3 connection slots. 1 for power supply, already connected (on the top middle of the board), 1 for serial input (with 2 connectors), left (where was connected the old cable) and one between power supply slot and serial slot ( I suppose it's to chain multiple boards).
I Don't know how to wire the serial slot... I've tried to link it to my computer serial (pin 3 and 5 - Tx and GND)... But no information displayed... however I don't know the syntax to send to the wallboard...
Anyone cal help me ?
here is "dot-made" representation of the top of the wallboard.
...tx gnd ..........................................................................12v DC - +
---| o o |------ | o o | ----------------------------------------------------------------- | o o |--------- ...
...(slot 1)......(slot 2)..................................................................(slot 3)
(where tx=pin 3 and GND=pin 5 or my computer mother board.
There is many jumpers (5 + 1) on the board. I did not change it as it was the only wallboard we had on our old system.
I'm trying to use VB (VB6) to send commands to the wallboard but nothing appears.
Can anyone help me ?
Thanks a lot to all.

V24 Wallboards
maybe the wallboard is the same or similar like here -> http://www.tweakpc.de/forum/sonstige-ha ... post643991
there is a bash script which sends the right strings.
maybe it can be a starting point for your vb script.

Re: V24 Wallboards
Hi TGN.
Many thanks for tips, but the wallboard "tells me" (if we can talk about "telling") Thanks but no thanks ! No light, no led... tried to revert pins... don't really understand ! Grrr. I made a Wincor Nixdorf POS display working with VB, and it works well, but this one resists me !
i'll continue my way to find tips around this old baby wallboard ^^
Thanks for your queek answer
