DTMF and SIP phones

Post by Kasper-1973 »

Hi you all,

I have two large shelf's coupled back-to-back via PRA-T2 cards.

On the first shelf I have configured 1 SIP phone and 1 IP Touch 8038.

On the second shelf I have configured 1 IP Touch 8038.

I have configured Prefix, ARS and Trunk on the first shelf.
I have configured the IAA on the second shelf with "Directory No. entry guide".

When I dial from the IP Touch on the first shelf, everything is working fine and a call is established between the two 8038-phones.
I can see in Wire-Shark that when the 8038 is dialing, it sends "EVT_KEY_PRESS" (NOE) directly to the CS-2 IP address.
So no problem here.

When I dial from the SIP phone on the first shelf, then I reach the IAA, but that's it.
I can see in Wire-Shark that when the SIP phone is dialing, it sends RFC2833 DTMF tones to the GD-3 IP address.
The OXE-system doesn't respond to the dialed digits, so no call is established.

It should be noted that the prefix and telephone number for the IAA is also sent as RFC2833 DTMF tones and those are well accepted by the system.
It is only when I have reached the IAA and dial the directory number, that nothing happens.

Anyone who can help me?

Hi Kasper,

let us see the wireshark traces of both cases. I remember a case in our client, that was resolved modifying the DTMF volume parameter. Copy the GD-3 value on the sip phone and it may works.

Hello,

You need to check the DTMF payload of the sip phone and the OXE...both should be same..either 97 or 101.

Thanks so far :-)

I have checked the DTMF volume (IP / IP Parameters / DTMF Volume = 10)
I couldn't find that parameter on the phone it self, but I could see in the Wire Shark traces that the volume used was = 10, so I guess they match.

I have tried changing the DTMF payload (SIP / SIP Gateway / Dynamic Payload type for DTMF = 97 or 101), but no luck. This was changed accordingly on the phone as well.

I have attached the two traces from Wire Shark. I have no idea on how to trace the system to see what happens on the E1-connection, but I guess I could find some information of value.

Thanks
Kasper

Hi,

try to change the duration in file Common.cfg in your Yealink-T23. In IpTouch the duration is 640 and the Yealink is 800...

See this: http://support.yealink.com/documentFron ... umentId=33

Hi dryhouse,

I have tried different values, but that didn't help.

I had the option to set the value between 0 and 300 (default is 100). 100 = 800 so 80 = 640 but no matter what, it didn't change anything.

I'm open for other suggestions. :-)

Hi all,

It should be noted that when I dial local between the SIP phone and the IP Touch and listen to the DTMF tones in the IP Touch handset, then there is no problem with the sound.

If I dial between the SIP phone and the IP Touch on the other shelf, via the network (one switch), then the sound is distorted (kind of metallic).

So it's when the DTMF tones leaves the shelf that I see the problem.
