OmniPCX appears to have crashed - Urgent help needed

Post by Oskar825806 »

Hallo forum,

Yesterday, during a bank holiday so activity on the network etc, our omnipcx appears to have crashed.

I say this because all of our 4038 are attempting to reload but get as far as 2/5 network setup and then restart again.

I have plugged an analogue phone in to the analogue port but there is no dialtone, the E1 to our switching network is also down.

Looking at the units themselves, all looks good but when I attemp to connect with the comms software, nothing!

I guess I have to go for a hard restart but any advice as to how to go about this would really be appreciated.

If OXE connect via serial cable, check what is going on. If you have no idea on how to do this, please contact a professional on site.

Hallo cavagnaro

Unfortunately the IT team that used to manage the system are no longer employed and I have little knowlwdge when it comes to Alcatel. Two other disadvanatges are, from what I understand, is that they system is 10+ years old and there is no such beast as 'a professional on site' :-(

As mentioned in my op, I believe I need to do a hard restart the system but need to do this in a safe way, any advice appreciated.

Hallo Haroun,

Thanks for responding and to answer you, it is two magazines, one with 6 'slots', the other with 3 and all looks 'normal', cpu lamps on all modules are green and flashing at different intervals.

Hallo Haroun,

Yes, there are two units in a 19" chassis.

There is no lanx board and contrary to what I have read, I am unable to find this serial port, there isn't one on the front nor the rear.

The modules that are installed are as follows:

What appears to be the main unit, upper modules from left to right are: 'mix 2/4/4', a 'UAI 8' and the CPUe-1 and then on the 'lower', again L-R, a 'pra T2', a 'CoCPU1' and then another 'CoCPU1.

On the upper unit, there is just a single row, the 1st is the 'BRA2', the next is a 'CoCPU2' and to the far right, an 'mex' board so no 'lanx' board

Picture?
A white box, smaller than the rest? Ax0, Ax1?
Maybe the serial is a DB25 one

you talking about OXE? I think you may have Office System?
You can find Serial Port in front of cpu. It is a RJ45 jack.

Hallo zusammen,

Sorry for the late response but here we go, 3 pics:

IMG_20160818_100650 is of the middle to right hand side, the lower unit housing the 'UAI 8', 'CoCPU-1', 'CPUe-1' and the 'CoCPU-1' and the upper unit a 'CoCPU-2' and the 'mex'.
IMG_20160818_094056 is of the left had side and again the middle, on the lower unit we have the 'mix 2/4/4' and the 'pra T2'
IMG_20160818_094204 is the only additional unit to the setup, an AP interface module, either to do with remote access or a door bell / opener? Whatever it is, there are only four possible connections, three of which are power, LAN and a connection to the PBX itself and the only other possible connection to this unit is a standard telephone.

As you can see, there is no sign of any form of serial, DB9, DB25, nothing?

Any help greatly appreciated,

Oskar
