Do not disturb

Post by Brannon »

I have a customer that is a huge school district here in Tulsa, OK. They have analog phones in their classrooms. They want to be able to turn on DND during the day so that external calls do not interupt their class. When an external calls, it goes to their voicemail. I have this setup and working properly.

My problem is, they want internal users to be able to dial an ext that has DND on and be able to enter a suffix for bypassing DND and ring into the classroom. We have been able to accomplish this on digital phones however they have analog in the classrooms and I cannot get it to recognize the suffix to bypass the DND. When I call the ext that has DND on, I hear the message that the caller is unavailable. When I press the suffix, I hear the DTMF however the message keeps playing and will not let me ring into the room.

I am opening a TAC case but wanted to know if anyone has ever done this and succeeded?

Ask frank. He had the same problem and if I remember correctly a solution...

Just an idea:
The Flag Bypass on forwarding under mgr - Categories - Phone Facilities Categories - Rights must be set to 1 for the caller.
The called set must have Prot.against bypass onforward set to 0.

After speaking with Alcatel TAC, they tested my issue in releases 7.1 7.0 and 6.1. They found that the ability for an analog set to call a set that is in DND mode and be able to enter a suffix to bypass it has never been allowed. Only digital phones can enter a suffix to bypass DND. They are currently researching to see what they can do

I just came in here to see what was going on.

Everytime I see a 'Do Not Disturb' sign on a door - it always makes me curious

Well so TAC called again and said they found that the feature WAS working in 6.1.1 and was broke in release 7.0 and on. They are writing the patch to make it work in all releases. I will try and work with Frank to load it to this site for all.

WOW...second time this year TAC has let me down. They called me yesterday and said that the feature for an analog set to type in a suffix to bypass dnd was dropped after 6.1.1 and they will NOT be writing a patch to allow it anymore. Why allow it on digital but not analog phones....I dont know but I know this will disappoint alot of customers.
