Events missing in Omnivista

Post by syra »

Hi,

we have recently installed Omnivista 4760 ver. 4.0 and there are no Events collected in Alarms application.
The company who installed Omnivista claims that the reason for it might be that we installed it on Windows 2003 server running on Virtual Server 2005 and Alcatel doesn't say that Virtual Server is supported.
But in my opinion it shouldn't do any difference if it's Virtual server or not, anyway it's Windows 2003 server.

Could be some other reason for it? Maybe there is something not properly configured (at the beginning there were also no alarms collected by I changed Alarm reception mode and now it's collected).?

As far as my installation, which is in windows 2003 there are no issues. I don't know if 4760 is supported on windows 2003 but it works well.

I can't say anything about the virtual server, maybe is an issue.

Can anyone help ????

The problem i may see there is how memory is handled, Java uses a specific way to handle memory events and Virtual Machines doesn't behave as a usual PC. Alcatel also is very hard when coding and a minor change can make many differences.

But what should be set in 4760 and PCX in order to receive events?

Go to Directory > Technical > Choose your PCX and check something like "Alarms" on the right pane.

I can't remember the correct name of the option

I have parameter "Alarm reception mode" set to Permanent IP connectivity.
And alarms are collected but events no.
Is that all which should be set up?

Yes, this is all to be parameted.
You see the events on incvisu at least ?
Did you try to plug this PC directly into the PBX ethernet port to see if it changes anything ?

It's release 7.0 f4.401.

And I run incvisu and all events and alarms are displayed. And strange thing, after that I logged on to Omnivista and checked Events tab and... all the events are displayed there now!

I have no idea if this is caused by running incvisu or it's connected with some my other actions. Anyway it's working now.
Thanks for all your replies and help.
