secondary Ip address for alcatel OMNI PCX

Post by swinstation »

Hi all
is it possible to add secondary IP address for CPU?

I am looking a way for one of my customer,he has 150 iphone and they configured manually now he wants to connect a remote station in another city and doesn't want to change main IP address.because old IP is not in same range with GW.
so we are looking a solution for add new Ip address and GW too.with out netadmin or router modification.

old IP:192.168.8.10
new IP: 217.219.41.3
GW:217.219.41.1

I tried and I could give secondary IP address to CPU "in other range"and I could telnet or ping new one.but I had these problem:
1.after shutdown new ip address lost.
2.new Ip phone could not find secondary ip and gave t ftp error.
3.when I want to add new GW switch looks just netadmin "netdata file" and show sub networks error because are not in same IP address range, however I added new IP address.
any idea?

Use routing for second site. OXE is not a router in order to configure several eth ports.

You need to use a router at the remote site to send the IP phone to the OXE cpu, OXE cpu cant have 2 IP attached.

please try in root account:
ifconfig eth0:1 x.x.x.x netmask x.x.x.x then you can telnet your cpu with another IP first IP exist and you add another ip with said command.

eth0=frist Ip has been configured on this device.
eth0:1= second ip will assign to this device.
after type ifconfig you will see both ip address

This configuration is ok at linux level. Your call handling application has other config files that are configured using netadmin script. Of course your config might work, but I don't think ALU will give you support for that.
