Cannot call Xlite SIP softphone from extensions

Hello guys,

I am trying to configure the Xlite v4 with Alcatel OXE , the sip softphone is registered and can call any users, but when making a call from extension to sip softphone it fails.

Also, when trying to make a external call using public trunks from sip softphone it fails.

Hope somebody can help.

Check with SIP trace.
But usually mane problem with codecs - if in Xlite absent codec G729.
Solution - OXE - IP/IP domain - item Extra-domain compression=without compression (will be used codec G711).

try zoiper (another free softphone) and see if you still have an issue with this. Also see attached this will help with how to perform traces outlined by VAD as well as some other basics

Thanks for the info, Vad, i configured on the OXE as you mentioned the Solution - OXE - IP/IP domain - item Extra-domain compression=without compression (will be used codec G711) but didnt work neither, i enabled all codecs in the Xlite v4 but never saw codec G729.

Bigmac, i will try the zoiper softphone you mentioned and thanks for the troubleshooting guide, i will follow it to see if i see any errors with Xlite too.

Any other ideas why xlite v4 doesnt work?

Thanks for the info, checking the logs at the moment, BTW Cavagnaro, after configuring the SIP softphone , should i be able to dial external numbers using the trunk groups configured on the OXE?

Yeah. Good point.
First check the problem and only after you find the cause of this problem you can start playing with the configuration.
Remember the NTARS rule.
With Xlite SW it is an ald and long story - every new version of it has problems connecting with OXE.
Zoiper is much better - I've never had a problem connecting it to OXE.

Yes, you should as long as the public category of the trunk allows it.

Thanks for the info, i just install the zoiper...but still get the same situation..i can call from sip softphone , but when calling him to extension it doesnt ring.

I just did the trace, restarted the sip motor and still doesnt work. It seems that the call never establishes, got cac:false and autoanswer:false.

hI, you seem to be offering G729, is the SIP phone capable of this? try setting the call as G711.
