Re-number all users on OXE

Post by knightr1der »

Hi everyone.

I need some help if you can please.

I have an OXE 6.2 with about 200 users. Extension range 2600 to 2799. I need to re-number all of them to 132600 to 132799 without deleting them all.

I seem to remember there was tool in UNIX that did this for a release 3 system many years ago but I've lost that information. Can anyone assist?

I don't know such a tool, i had much less work, before 2 years, where i had to renumber 500 users...

A quick solution for you may be a prefix 1326 and 1327 as "Local short dialling".

Because i don't know the reason for renumbering: maybe this wouldn't save you the work, because of some network reasons (callback will make problems, etc).

Mario, Thanks for replying.

Yes, teh reason for renumbering is because of network. The customer is adding sites and is choosing bad numbers for new users. So I have suggested to sue site prefix like 13, 14, 15 and the last 4 digits can be anything the customer wants.

It looks like I will be deleting and re-creating a lot of users.

I have good news and bad news!

Good news: I found the tool for re-number.

Bad news: It is not for 4400 but for 4635 !

Let me know if anyone is interested - I will have to scan it and put it in the pastebin.

Hi

when you have to delete and recreate, you could export the whole user tree and edit the exported text files (just adding the needed prefixes befor the number) and then import these file after deleting the users.

A good solution for you would be to use the 4760..
Export all user, use excel to edit the file and renumber the extension, import the file, and you're all done !

The tool is numtr  Local Numbering Plan Translation

Carefully! It's not official.

The Tool is not supported by Alcatel-Lucent.

It works with homogeneous numbering plans only.
Problems are to expect with tandem sets and if extensions have different lengths e.g. 3- and 5-digits.
Furthermore it's mandatory to manage the Node number correctly.
It should work from R3.2 c1.706.11.o

Check document 3BA290000374PAZZA for details.

Thanks Eliott,

I will play with that off-switch first to try it.
