Access to 4635

Post by wizzy »

First of all I would like to congratulate the owner of this forum. This is the first time that I post and this forum is really helpful.

I have a problem on connecting to 4635 voice mail via serial port( the cable is the 3BA58107AA serial ). When I attach a modem on this cable and call it, the modem replies but nothing happens. I beleive I need specific modem setup. Can anyone assist or propose another type of connection such LAN ?

Thank you

Cable V24 have two DB25 (with red mark for modem and black for direct connection). And modem must be programmed with 9600 (for V24 port and connection speed).

4635 via BRMA

Post by patmul39 »

To connect to the 4635 via BRMA you must: First connect the cable to the 4400 back plane slot right at the very top! Then connect the black marked 29 pin connector to the ExC port on the BRMA - the port should be configured by default. Connect your pc (serial port) to the ExA port. You will get a prompt:

no you don't, the 4635 will communicate with teh CPU via the c1 link. One can backup the VM database via swinst. You will need an external IP cabele if you want to FTP it to direct to a PC (note do now use microsoft FTP to perform the vm backup, it will not work, thisis a kown problem within Alcatel).

Hi Frank,

Yes can be done i think (from memory) but need to initiate a backup on the 4635 first. I wrote a pretty crude script to do it in cron of the 4400, but was only testing for someone & haven't used it for production switch :)
