panic: internal -error, file "/twdhs3/..."

Post by ortega »

Hi!
I use Attachmate Kea! to enter in the Alcatel 4400 via dialup modem. It happened sometimes that I press some key combination that makes the system flip out.

It starts sending:

panic: internal -error, file "/twdhs3/prodb4/ws/patch_b3.517/mao/code/mgr/Resource.C", line 43

consecutively (one per second).

I can't get rid of the message and access the console. The only way to enter the system is to hang up and wait some hours.

Any idea about what's happening and how I can recover a system that starts this behavior?

Thanks for your attention!

Any HD error? HAd some electrical problem lately like a forced shutdown or similar?
I'll try to change HD, those weird things usually end on a HD crash.

That was a old bug that happens when you are in mgr and you press CTRL C + Del
When this key combination is entered, you get that error msg and the maoagent process enters in a loop. After that you must restart the maoagent process.
As far as i know, this bug was solved in C1.703 and D2.311

Thanks a lot for your answer.

Yes, I also had the impression that this issue only occurred in older versions. Now I know what is causing it and try to avoid it :D . But when that happens (the maoagent process in a loop) is there a way to stop it in the moment? I can't see the shell or what I'm typing, but is there a way to stop that behavior? Can I use some command? Which one?

And it is no HDD error.
You can restart the maoagent as follows: dhs3_init -R MAOAGENT

The file /usr3/manager/admin must be okay also:

Code: Select all

tvi925-mgr.Backspace: "Common.Move-Left"
tvi925-mgr.CTRL-H: "Common.Move-Left"
default.filtering: "OLD"
default.character: "LATIN1"
account.mtcl: 0
account.mtch: 0
account.client: 3
Sometimes the file will be 0 Bytes and the mgr says:
panic: Unknown user account "mtcl"
panic: internal-error, file "/twdhs3/prodd1/ws/si_d1/mao/code/mgr/code/ResDico.C", line 71
(error: line 6: parse error)
The file /usr3/manager/mtcl.adm must have default.language: "GEA" inside.

A third problem with mgr could be the efd.dat.
The mgr will freeze after the first three lines.
You can delete the /usr3/mao/efd.dat file in this case, check all processes (ps -ef) for efd.dat and search the cause.

To restart the maoagent process, just use the "dhs3_init -R MAOAGENT" command.

Thanks a lot. Next time it happens, I'll use that command. I'll say something, then.

Best regards.
