VLAN Stacking access and tunnel ports

Post by Maddog »

Hi,
I have recently received an Alcatel OS6450 switch for testing of QinQ/VLAN Stacking. I am trying to link this switch to a Zyxel switch which I know how to configure VLAN Stacking for.
Unfortunately I am not familiar with Alcatel switches at the moment and am not due for some training till next month.

The commands I used on the OS6450 were as follows

ethernet-service svlan 401
ethernet-service service-name "Stacked" svlan 401
ethernet-service svlan 401 nni 1/6 (I think this is the equivalent of a vlan stacking tunnel port)
ethernet-service sap 20 service-name "Stacked SAP"
ethernet-service sap 20 uni 1/1 (I think this is the equivalent of an vlan stacking access port)
ethernet-service sap 20 cvlan 4000
write memory flash-synchro

Now I have another OS6450 which I have tested using single tagged vlans with a single tagged Zyxel and have had no problems with getting them to talk but when I link the Zyxel tunnel port with the nni interface and put a single tagged switch plugged into the uni port and sending vlan 4000 at it I fail to get any communication across the link.

Is there something I am missing?

I also noticed that when I type

show ethernet-service port 1/1

It shows the Default SVLAN as 4095 which I would have actually expected 401 or maybe 1.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, don't know what went wrong but this config has allowed the switches to communicate so what I have done is correct.
Now I want to manage the vlan stacking switch with an ip address from a remote location.
I was thinking that on the vlan stacking switch I would configure a 802.1Q tag in vlan 4000 which I then pass to another switch behind the vlan tagging switch and then put it back into the vlan stacking switch to be transported on the stacked vlan of 401 to the remote location.
Is this the best way? Or is there some other way I can get the ip on a single vlan back to the remote location without involving a second switch?

Any help would be great.
