All those commands that we don't really use very often, but that we should ! Documented or not, they worth it !

To put a message when you log ont the account "mtcl" by example, modify the file next :

usr2/mtcl/.local_profile

Just create the file with

>vi .local_profile
:wq to save

I put

echo "CLIENT NAME"
echo "APPS INSTALLED ARE..."

On a linux release you can use the message of the day facility. For this use command "motd"

Message of the day will be for all logies

(I believe it's in /etc/motd )

You can also use a banner at the login prompt

/etc/issue , /etc/issue.net

And finaly a message just for mtcl

~/.bashrc , at the very end
